Supervisory
Skills: One-On-One Sessions
Objectives:
At the end of this training program, the participant will:

practiced the tools of productive supervision

a more effective managerial style with understanding of
individual strengths and weaknesses

more successfully in the current environment because of an
increased understanding of the organization’s culture

should attend: Middle or senior level executives new to a
supervisory role
Program
Format: Series of eight 90-minute coaching sessions
Topics
for each 90-minute session:

Discussion
of objectives of the training, from the participant’s and
firm’s point of view. Identification of problems and
opportunities in his work environment. Mapping of the firm’s
culture.

Profiling
of individual style preferences using instruments such as Social
Styles, Myers Briggs Type Instrument, and the Kirton Adaptor
Innovator Scale. Discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of
his particular profile.

Maximizing
interactions with key people in his work environment. Discussion
of how his and their skills at self management affect the
relationships, including assertiveness, stress and time
management, oral and written communication, use of creativity
and rational problem solving.

Building
an effective team. Discussion of typical stages of team
development. Tools that enhance team productivity
Motivating, coaching and counseling. Use of listening skills to
enhance relationships. How to turn on marginal performers and
develop stars.

Delegating
and empowering. When and when not to delegate. How to build and
use power in the organization
Negotiating and managing conflict. Setting and communicating
standards. Managing emotional behavior. How to effectively
resolve conflicts

Discussion
of progress made. Action plan and key indicators
