Using Power to Influence

Objectives: 

  • Understand the six power sources of influence

  • Learn your own personal style in using power to influence

  • Create greater influence through more skilled use of your power

Who should attend: Managers, team leaders and team members, professionals in diverse organizations
 
Duration: Half day
 
Program Format: Participants first complete the Power Base Inventory to learn their personal styles in using power on the job. To make the most of their personal style, they learn when and how to use each of these sources of power to greater influence:

  • Goodwill

  • Authority

  • Reward

  • Information

  • Expertise

  • Discipline

After practicing using each source of power individually and in groups, participants then work mini-cases of realistic workplace situations.
